In Good Shape
I art directed the redesign of Deutsche Welle’s (DW) weekly health programme, overseeing the project from brief to delivery. In Good Shape (IGS) is a health programme that covers a wide range of topics related to physical and mental well-being. The show features interviews with medical professionals, fitness experts and patients on how to live a healthier and well-informed life. IGS reaches millions of viewers and is broadcast worldwide.
The concept for the design system was to make IGS feel like your friendly trustworthy companion. A patient friend who always gives you the best advice and offers insights into the issues and topics that matter to you.
DW wanted IGS to feel young, playful, fresh and digital, with a strong focus on young women aged 18 to 30, from every reality and corner of the world.

Digital
It also needed to convey a sense of interactivity, as if the viewer were navigating an app. This creates a better online viewing experience, making the programme digital-proof. We had to avoid any elements that felt overly 'broadcast-like' or formal, yet maintain its trustworthy look, as DW is ultimately run by a team of dedicated journalists.
Design language
The design language is based on the use of circles and squares to enhance the factual and balanced feel of the programme. The circles represent community, empathy and protection, while the squares stand for honesty, solidity and stability.
